The Acts of Ananias
Acts 9:10-19
Strangers and Pilgrims
1 Peter 2:11-12
Message on where our affections are.
All Things Work Together For Your Good
God strategically placed each word of this passage to assure us He is for us! And if you're a Christian, it applies to every aspect of life. You can claim it whether you're operating a billion-dollar industry or you're unemployed. Regardless of what happens, everything-everything!-somehow cooperates for your good!
According to the Pattern
God has a specific plan for each person's life. That's because it relates directly to two of His great attributes: His omniscience and wisdom. As omniscient He knows everything and nothing is hidden from Him; and as wise His counsel is perfect. Because God knows all the variables and He's aware of what's best for us He is never apathetic toward our decisions. This message deals with the need of following the plan and path that God has designed for us.
The Decision of Moses
Hebrews 11:24-28
Divine Entrapment
Job 1:8-10
The Testimony of the Cross
Colossians 2:13-15
A Man of God
Father's Day Message
The Beauty of Forgiveness
Matthew 18:21-35
Forgiveness is a word we both love as it regards what God does with our confessed sins. It's like He presses the delete button on His Heavenly computer. And when He forgives us He doesn't send our sins to a temporary recycle bin, just in case He needs to remind us of them. They're totally removed from the hard drive!
Enoch's Remarkable Testimony
Hebrews 11:5-5
Authority to Ask
1 John 5:13-15
Things to Remember
Ephesians 2:11-13
This message deals with three imperatives that Christians should never forget as they seek to follow Christ.
Requirements of Salvation
John 1:11-13
What are the requirements of salvation on the part of man? Can man be saved apart from Christ?
If You're Saved and You Know it, Say, "Amen!"
The Bible calls for an outspoken religion. Psalm 107 asserts, "let the redeemed of the Lord say so"!
What Never Happened on the Day of Atonement
Hebrews 10:1-14
Arise and Claim the Blessings!
Matthew 7:7-11
The promises of God abound in Scripture, but they are not automatically activated in a Christian's life. Christians must pursue God's promises and claim them with faith!
The Inherent Power of Believers
Matthew 16:16-19
The Believer's inherent power refers to the innate, instinctive authority God bestows upon those who accept Christ as Savior. It's the empowerment that God has invested within every Christian around the world.
How to Hear from God
John 13:2-10
Our Creator knows the importance of communication and that's why He speaks to us. But why is it so difficult to hear Him?
Can Man Live Without Mercy?
Genesis 3:3-7
Christ called us to live with more than an awareness of other's needs. He called us to intervene. And that's what mercy is. It's compassion in action. It's love without a leash.
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Exodus 20:7-7
The chief concern of the third of the Ten Commandments deals with our speech—how we use God's Name. And what we say is important. The Bible says God takes account of every idle word and at Judgment Day He will judge not only our works, but every word we've uttered. That means it's important how we treat the most holy name in the universe.
God at Work
Genesis 5:16-16
Many people, whether they are seekers or skeptics, wonder if God is actively involved in the affairs of the world. Despite their doubts, one fact comes through loud and clear, that is, God prevails upon creation! If God, in His omnipotence and wisdom, created the universe, He certainly guides and controls it.
You Must Be Born Again!
John 3:1-3
Four out of ten Americans claim to be Born Again. But what does that theological concept known as regeneration, or the New Birth, actually mean?
Carte Blanche Faith
Most people are familiar with the term carte blanche as it relates to the credit card industry. It's a card empowering people to purchase according to their choice. Webster defines carte blanche as "full discretionary power." But let's see how God applies this principle to our faith.
Compassion in Action
Matthew 9:35-38
Christ has often been called, "The Man of Compassion." And that's because He entered the arena of human suffering and lifted burdens. That's what mercy is. Mercy is more than an emotional experience of feeling someone's pain it's doing what's possible to alleviate it. Compassion is action!
Conquering Containment
Genesis 12:1-3
Satan employs a 3-fold strategy to contain Christians and Christians need to know how to counter that strategy!
Overcoming the Doubts of Salvation
2 Timothy 1:12-12
The Bible says you and I don't have to wonder whether we are a Christian! The Heavenly Father doesn't want any of His children plagued with fear. In fact, God wants to diffuse every tormenting doubt and infuse a certainty that surpasses any other fact of life!
Who's Slave are You
John 8:31-41
The Bible says, "do let sin be your master." And Jesus Christ has the power to deliver all men from the domination of sin.
Baby Dedication
1 Samuel 1:1-1
A brief Baby Dedication.
What Must I Do To Be Saved?
Acts 16:30-31
People believe they are in good standing with God as long as they treat their fellow man with respect and don't hurt anyone. But they often fail to look inward and acknowledge their inward nature of sin. I want to show you three ways the Bible shows that men are bound by sin.
Vanquishing Fear
Revelation 1:17-18
Awhile back, a report noted that up to 77% of a person's thoughts are negative. It's understandable that certain fears are more prevalent than others, but modern man has taken fear to a new level.
Consequences of Sin
Romans 6:23-233
There are consequences to every action in life. Some actions produce positive results while others produce negative results. Never forget the Bible's warning of the consequences of sin.
Making the Most of Life
Ephesians 5:15-17
Live in the present; Release your faith; and seize your moment!
Always Give Thanks!
Luke 17:11-19
Do you realize how few times the Gospel writers show people thanking Christ for the miracles He worked for them? There is no recorded thanks for turning the water into wine; no thanks for feeding the five thousand . . .
What's So Frightening About Christmas?
Luke 2:8-14
Behold, He Prays!
Genesis 9:10-19
How important is prayer to Christians? Scripture employs more than 360 references to it! Jesus said in Luke 18:1 that we "should always pray and not give up." And 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says to "pray without ceasing." There are several reasons why we should maintain a strong prayer life.
Distinguished By The Anointing
2 Corinthians 1:21-22
Pentecostal Sermon, sermon on the Holy Spirit, Anointing
Holy Spirit, Who He Is and What He Does
John 14:15-18
The Believer's Rest
God gave men six days each week to accomplish his tasks; but a Sabbath Day each week is reserved for man's rejuvenation.
Power over Strongholds
Luke 11:14-22
Strongholds manifest in the form of worry, unnatural thoughts and desires, paranoia, fear, or oppression. Their only intent is to afflict your well-being. But know this, strongholds can be broken! "Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world!"
Desires of a Godly Parent
3 John 1:1-4
There's nothing that grieves Christian parents more than when their children ignore God or live contrary to His plan. On the other hand, there's nothing that brings more joy to parents than seeing their children faithfully serve God!
The Woman at the Well
John 4:4-10
One of our most difficult duties as Christians involves leading a sinner to Christ. Those who have worked in the arena of evangelism know the many objections people offer when they are confronted with Christ. But the story of the Woman at the Well is a masterful account of how Jesus led this sinner to faith in God.
Driving out the Canaanites
Deuteronomy 7:1-6
The concept of Driving out the Canaanites is imagery from the Old Testament. The Canaanites were Israel's arch-enemies that occupied the land God promised to Abraham's descendants. Today, the now extinct Canaanites represent that which obstructs one's ability to receive God's promises.
Your Foundation: Firm or Flawed?
Matthew 7:24-27
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of seven wonders of the modern world. Its story is interesting. It was a construction effort that spanned 200 years that never corrected the essential flaw.
"I Don't Want to Change, I'm Happy Like I Am!"
2 Corinthians 5:17-17
Alvin Tofflier said in Future Shock that today's world is as different from the world of 1923 as the world of 1923 was from Julius Caesar's day. Until the twentieth century the changes in technology and industry were hardly discernable during a lifetime, but today change travels at lightning speed.
God is With You!
Judges 6:1-10
The Midianites attacked Israel unlike anybody else. Other enemies attacked Israel with the intention of annihilating them, but Midian's strategy involved ignoring Israel until springtime and then descended on them like swarms of locusts and plundered their crops and cattle. All Israel could do was scrounge for whatever leftovers remained.
The God of our Problems
Mark 2:1-11
Jesus is more than a man. He's a supernatural man and He's fully qualified to meet whatever needs you have.
I Am the Way
John 14:6-6
God Speaks Through Visions
Job 33:14-18
Vision is a powerful principle in the Kingdom for those discerning its insight. It's a God-given gift planted within, which offers direction, disclosure, and opportunity.
God, Who Raises the Dead
2 Corinthians 1:8-11
This sermon doesn't deal with resurrecting one from physical death; it deals with the resurrection of God's divinely inspired promises and visions within man.
The Good Samaritan
Luke 10:30-37
The Parable of the Good Samaritan is the most familiar parable of Christ. Some scholars believe it's more than fiction and contend its contents are factual. In fact, those who have toured the Holy Land may have seen the Israeli guides point to the ruins of the Inn Jesus alluded to in the parable.
Dealing with Temptations
Genesis 22:1-14
Unlike an educational experience, life presents the test first and then let's us learn the lesson it teaches us.
I Pray That It May Go Well With You
Before John's death he wrote the following words, "I pray that you may prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers." This agrees with everything the Bible teaches about a Christian's welfare. Even our Lord's death at Calvary reveals how God wants to bless every dimension of our life.
Motivated by Love
2 Corinthians 5:11-15
God has called Christians to share their Faith; but this isn't a message on evangelism it's a look at the motivation for evangelism. It's about the motivation from within that compels Christians to share their Faith. And powerful things happen when Christians are motivated to work for God through love.
Modern-Day Idolatry
Exodus 20:1-6
As we read the Scriptures we equate Israel's idolatry with worshiping the golden calf or the gods of Baal. But we commit idolatry when we allow anything other than God to capture our heart and control our behavior. And God, who is jealous, demands men to worship and esteem Him as the only true God.
Jesus Christ Heals
Acts 9:31-35
If you opened the medicine cabinet of the average American you'd find it stuffed with pharmaceutics—everything from analgesics to nitroglycerin; from cough syrup to cancer drugs. But while some illnesses can be eliminated with medication God still heals men in miraculous ways!
The Brevity of Life; The Need for Salvation
Romans 6:23-23
The Bible say, "life is like a vapor." But eternity has nothing to which we can compare it.
God's Call to Jonah
Jonah 1:1-3
Jonah ran from God, and yet God pursued him every step of the way. All without a GPS. But why would the ubiquitous, omniscient Lord need one anyway?
Irrefutable Realities
Psalms 111:7-9
It is said that the only things certain in life are death and taxes. While we can't avoid those realities there are other issues that are also fixed and permanent. In fact, they are irrefutable.
Jesus Christ is Lord! Or, Is He?
Acts 2:34-36
The lordship of Jesus Christ is one of Scripture's most significant doctrines. That word Lord means, "supreme in authority; master; ruler; and owner."
The Holy Spirit and You
Luke 11:11-13
People have always sought strategies to conquer life--self-help principles, motivational seminars, books, or even consulting personal coaches and psychologists. While there is merit to some self-improvement techniques, each is limited and has its liability. But there are no limits to the power of the Holy Spirit and what He offers Christians.
Obedience is Better Than Sacrifice
Christians are often faced with the temptation to choose sacrifice over obedience. While King Saul is a glaring Old Testament example, and the Pharisees represent a New Testament equivalent, none of us are immune to the possibility.
Parable of the Soils and the Security of Saints
Luke 8:11-15
The topic of the believer's security is often controversial. I believe the parable of the sower/soils teaches us important truths regarding the security of the saints and the dangers of apostasy.
The Incarnation
John 1:1-4
Awhile back I asked several Christians what the term incarnation meant and they were stumped. When that happened I realized that perhaps pastors were part of the misunderstanding because one of those people that couldn't define the incarnation was my wife. We throw around theological concepts without properly defining them.
In His Time
Galatians 4:4-7
Everyone knows what it's like to be late. It can be embarrassing and even costly. Despite all the negatives associated with tardiness it's a constant battle in our time-conscious culture. While we think God might be late for answering our needs; He never is!
The Gift God Gave
Loosed!
Exodus 6:2-8
When you study Scripture you discover that God's people constantly need loosing. Believers simply have a propensity of falling into traps, getting cornered, or being shackled. It's why God sent OT Israel the prophets and judges—to loose them from the bondage of their enemies. It's not coincidental that the name Jesus means: "God saves," or, "God liberates," because the ultimate purpose of redemption is to liberate Christians from all that controls and confines them.
Man's Only Hope
Romans 5:1-5
This is a post-modern generation that lives with unparalleled comfort and affluence. Yet this century, which was to birth an age of utopia is riddled with distress. Somehow these achievements have been plagued by considerable calamity. As Charles Dickens said: "These are the best of times and these are the worst of times."
Living with Godly Influence
1 Timothy 4:11-16
To a degree, our culture, friends, and environment shape our convictions. But God wants our deeply held beliefs drawn from the Bible. It's the only way we can conduct our lives with godly influence. And we should never forget that our behavior influences others!
Knowing God
Philippians 3:7-11
St. Augustine said he longed to see three things--Rome in its glory, Christ in the flesh, and Paul in his preaching. I'm sure you have a list of aspirations too, but there's a higher aspiration than any of these wishes that Augustine, you, or I should have. That is, every believer should desire to intimately know Christ.
The Right Choice
Genesis 2:1-8
Decisions shape destiny. Choices determine our welfare. And we're faced with them on a daily basis.
Publican and the Pharisee
Genesis 18:9-14
What is pride? It is an attitude that says, "I can master life without God," robs Christ of His Lordship. The prideful person assumes he is smart enough to plot and plan life without any help from God.
The Power of Redemption
Ephesians 1:7-8
In Christ's day the word redemption was readily understood. It meant, "to release from captivity." The reason it was a prevalent concept is because it related to slavery. Rome governed the First Century world and their might and power lorded over six million Jews—or, one-third of their population.
Learning to Worship from Wicked Men
Mark 3:1-5
There are times when men with evil hearts teach Christians eternal lessons. Such is the case in Mark 3.
The Law of Sowing and Reaping
Galatians 6:7-10
You've heard the adage, "If God said it, I believe it, and that settles it!" That's a good faith-building maxim, but, there are times when God's Word says it and that settles it regardless of your belief system! Such is the case with God's irrepressible law of reciprocity.
Your Destiny, What is It?
Jeremiah 29:10-14
Everybody has a destiny. The Bible says God has "chosen our inheritance for us." That means it's providentially tailored just for you. It doesn't mean we're manipulated like a dangling puppet, it indicates God has divine designs flowing from His love and wisdom.
How to Pray Big
1 Chronicles 4:9-10
Nothing more is known of Jabez other than the commemoration our text gives him. He shows up, prays a prayer, disappears, and is never heard from again. But the impact his prayer makes is eternally memorialized in Scripture. Here is a virtual unknown, certainly not equivalent to Moses or Daniel, who prayed a twenty-nine word prayer that so moved God, it is preserved as a model prayer.
Praying under the Spirit's Influence
Ephesians 6:17-18
Conversely, Scripture talks about prayer that prevails; and that's what we want to practice. And prevailing prayer is the kind that's offered under the Spirit's influence. He is the catalyst, strategy, and success to every spiritual endeavor.
Shamgar's Oxgoad
God always had a "man of the hour" to stage Israel's deliverance. And in chapter 3 a farmer named Shamgar rose to the occasion when he turned his plowing field into a war zone and defeated 600 Philistines.
Obedience, Your Key to Success with God
Luke 5:1-7
Today's society places much emphasis on success. There are seminars, talk shows, infomercials, advertisements, and magazines that appeal to our need to achieve. Our great country of America is structured as a capitalist nation and that itself encourages people to succeed. But what is success?
The Song of Moses
Exodus 15:1-2
The Song of Moses was sung after Israel applied the blood of the Passover Lamb to their households and passed through the Red Sea, safely beyond the reach of Pharaoh. And this masterpiece makes it all the way to Heaven. Exodus 15 reveals its first rendition just outside Egypt¡¦s gates and Revelation 15 shows its refrain just inside Heaven¡¦s gates. This song, along with the Song of the Lamb, transcends every song of every age.
Why Christians Must Not Quit
1 Corinthians 15:1-2
This sermon deals with three reasons Christians should not quit.
How to Work God's Works
Mark 16:15-18
The New Testament is called, The Gospel, or, The Good News. And the Good News is this: God is here and He gets involved with us. The Good News is more than preaching and teaching. It's words alright, but it's words with a witness. It's a proclamation and a demonstration.
Prepare the Way
Mark 1:1-8
John the Baptist was no psychologist but he understood human nature. Being a prophet he didn't prescribe his counsel through psychotherapy or clinical psychology, he prescribed his remedy through a "thus saith the Lord" approach. And he was quite effective in his methodology.
Visionaries for God
Acts 26:18-19
Conventionally speaking, vision describes something that comes into view. It's a focusing on three dimensional objects. But prophetic vision doesn't come by ocular sight, it involves spiritual perception.
The Law of Sowing and Reaping
Galatians 6:7-10
The Bible sets forth an irrevocable law that we cannot ignore. It doesn't matter if you're nine or ninety-nine. That law is found in our text in Galatians 6 that says: "whatever is sown is reaped!"
Jesus is Alive!
Matthew 28:1-10
The Blessings of Repentance
Acts 17:30-31
John the Baptist is Scripture's premier Prophet of repentance. Everything he preached correlated with that topic. And nobody was better qualified to preach it than John because his very lifestyle matched his message:
Tear It Down!
Jeremiah 4:1-10
This was the militant message God conveyed to Jeremiah. He was anointed by the Spirit to "uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant" (1:10). Jeremiah was commanded to do twice as much destroying and uprooting than constructing and planting.
Men as Angels
Matthew 22:30-30
It's almost inconceivable to think men could be compared to angels because of their supernatural status, but Christ is the one that made the comparison.
Who Owns What?
Matthew 19:28-35
The Church on the Rock
Matthew 16:13-19
Is your church founded on the Rock of Jesus Christ? There are identifiable qualities that mark such a church.
The Word of God
Hebrews 4:12-12
The Word of God lives because it wasn't written by men of superior intellect or those skilled in prose. It was written by men who were inspired by the Holy Spirit. And because this Book is inspired by God that means you can completely trust it. You can build your life on it and stake your future on it. It will never let you down.
The Reward of Sacrifice
Malachi 3:10-12
It doesn't matter how which part of Scripture you read, true worshipers make sacrifices. Sacrifices are so essential to Christianity that there is no Christian Faith without sacrifices.
Partnership with God
Genesis 28:10-22
Throughout Scripture there were people uniquely favored by the Lord—people that prevailed with God's blessing and accomplished a special purpose in their generation. They achieved as they did because they understood their partnership with God and realized they had a special relationship with Him.
When a Christian is Vulnerable
1 Corinthians 10:12-12
In our text, Paul focuses his warning on Christians that are over-confident and prideful about their relationship with Christ; he's sending a word of caution to people who believe they are nearly impervious to temptation, even when it crouches right before them, and they will remain unaffected.
A New Thing
Isaiah 43:18-21
Are you ready for God to do a "new thing"? Are you ready for Him to rain on you parched land and renew your heart and your vision? I can assure you that He wants to! So how can we allow God to do a "a new thing" I our life?
The Incomparable Christ
John 3:31-35
It stands to reason that Christianity's most important question is, Who is Jesus Christ? The entire Christian Faith rests upon this question. If He's God, then our Faith is safe. If He's a fraud, our eternal destiny is at stake.
The Quest for Peace
John 20:21-21
There's a tremendous difference between tranquility and serenity. Tranquility describes a temporary condition generally arising from external assistance. Serenity, however, is an assumed state of being uninduced by externals; it's a disposition claimed from within.
