As the New Year arrives it is imperative for Christians to remember that God is sovereign—completely, irrepressibly sovereign! In 2012, Christians will have reason to rejoice as the Gospel penetrates resistant areas and souls come to Christ. Conversely, mankind will have moments of alarm as catastrophe, insurgency, and international conflict strike. Despite whatever comes, we must remember that with the Almighty Lord there are no “accidents,” no flukes of nature, or no surprises. He “knows the end from the beginning” and is completely capable of handling all things. And He will! God will fulfill His predetermined plan of the ages despite natural disasters or man’s rebellion.
